"Dec Arts" is often art code for antiques and the term does apply to the first floor of the arts center. The docent gave a great talk about the owners of the property and how they used the home.Upstairs is where the special exhibits are. The artists featured when I visited are from Brazil. It was fascinating. And very impressive that a small museum in a small town in Ohio would have their work.

Beautiful historic building with rotating exhibits of the Decorative Arts. This place is lovingly restored and also boasts art classes for children and adults.

my wife and I, along with 2 friends were lucky enough to be able to get tickets for the 4th performance by susan claussen as she portrayed Hollywood legend edith head.... she performed for about 30 minutes or so, prompted by the curator of the exhibit with a sprinkling of questions from the audience...her portrayal was as if edith head herself was in front of us, relating facts and information about her times in Hollywood as the leading designer of costumes and clothing for paramount studios, and giving out interesting tidbits about some of the stars she worked with during her nearly 40 year tenure as the leading "dresser" for the stars... after her performance, we were able to have our picture taken with her, and then a private tour of the costumes led the by the exhibit curator....this is only the 2nd time many of these cotumes have been outside of Hollywood since the studio began restoring and cataloging these items... we felt fortunate to have been able to see this performance firsthand....

This historic home hosts high quality exhibitions that draw visitors from afar. And it is free with donations welcome. The gift shop is lovely and beautifully decorated.

I was there last week for the Edith Head exhibit of costumes from movies from the 1940s-1960s, I'm going back this week and taking friends. It's a great exhibit, the staff members are knowledgeable and helpful. The staircase is beautiful and the gift shop has unusual items. I saw a great exhibit there last Christmas with trees decorated from different eras with toys underneat from that era. It was wonderful with lots of exclamations of "I had one of those!" or "I saw this on my Grandma's Christmas tree!" Admission is free and there is box for donations. Entry is kind of confusing as the front door, which is not ADA accessible, is closed off but they have good signage to get you to the correct door. Can see most exhibits on a lunch hour or linger longer if you have the time.

Can it get any better? A beautiful building that has free admission to see authentic costumes designed by the great Edith Head. The staff was friendly yet unobtrusive. One could take flashless photography and peruse at your own pace. A great exhibit that has been extended. Worth the eleven-hour drive!

First time visiting and I came for the Edith Head exhibit. The staging of this exhibit was fabulous! It was a treat to discover the first floor of this center is fully decorated in period furniture.

Today we went to see the Hollywood costume exhibit...it was very nice... enjoyed the interactive Ipads. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the exhibit. I have seen other exhibits in the past and even though it is a small museum they have a lot to offer. It is a small town gem.

I have visited here several times for special exhibits, most recently for the Edith Head costume exhibit. The house itself has wonderful woodwork and antiques. The exhibits are displayed imaginatively. My daughter enjoyed the interactive I pad which showed clips of the movies the costumes had been in. The gift shop is nice too!

The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio is a beautiful historic house with three rotating exhibits each year. They are expertly curated and focus on decorative arts and Ohio collections. Recent shows I have enjoyed included Edith Head costumes, antique Christmas ornaments, contemporary art furniture, and Oriental rugs. They also had a beautiful show of hand-made native folk dress from around the world with gorgeously hand woven and embroidered fabrics. Don't miss it!

The Decorative Arts Center is hosting a terrific exhibit of the movie costumes designed by Edith Head. The show features a couple of dozen costumes, movie clips, drawings, photos, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia from Ms. Head's four decades at Paramount Pictures. If you are a movie buff, you should make the trip to see this show, which runs through August 17, and best of all, it's free!

went to the DACO on Friday....the center had a preview of the edith head exhibit...for those of you who are unfamiliar with this person, she was the costume designer for paramount pictures for 43 years, designing costumes for many, if not all, of the major stars from the 20's into the late 60's...the costumes on display were originals from the paramount studio museum (this is only the 2nd time these costumes have traveled outside of Hollywood)...there is an interactive exhibit which you can use to see excerpts from the films these costumes were used in, and by which actor/actress...the best part is the fact that this exhibit is free, as is the center itself....open in the afternoons tues-sun.....closed Monday...go see it....
