Best part about Byxbee is you can bring your dog friend on a leash. It is a great place for long, meandering walks and birdwatching, with some outdoor art installations that make you go "hmm...".

When you first arrive, it can be a bit underwhelming, but this is the sort of spot that grows on you. You will share the wide gravel paths with walkers, dog walkers, runners and bikers. You can see for miles and if you are paying attention, see myriad birds flying overhead or feeding in the waters. A huge group of pelicans were floating in a circle on one visit. A 1/4 mile further I came upon a giant convention of ducks quacking merrily. My daughter had to go three weekends in a row to do observations for her science class and each week was a new surprise of ducks, geese or other water fowl. There is ample parking and restrooms by the parking lot. The Baylands Nature Preserve is nearby. There are a few benches scattered along the path if you want to take a rest and watch the birds come and go.

I like running here. It's flat, you're running along a levee, you can see for miles, and you can just keep running. The only problem is there isn't much of a loop - you just out and back, even if you run all the way down to San Jose. No real facilities, although two amusing outside art installations.
