This Playhouse produces the highest quality semi-professional theater anywhere. Being from NYC and having seen many "professional" shows, let me just say the Tacoma Musical Playhouse comes VERY close to some of the best performances I have ever seen. Very talented actors and singers, high level sets and overall excellence.

If you are in Tacoma on business, have an evening free, and find a production on stage, try to snag a ticket. Shows are well done, have live orchestras, and are nearly always sold out. You won't be disappointed.

Never in my life had I gone to this venue. As a kid through young adulthood this was The Narrows Theater. I believe it sat empty for many years. I think it was home to various businesses at times. Mo matter. I understand they recently a million dollar renovation. It looks like it. Nice venue, just right for Tacoma. We saw the musical, 'Young Frankenstein'. The movie it is based on is a classic. I saw a production of this in Seattle at The Paramount, and although this may not have been as professionally performed, it was none-the-less just as enjoyable, if not more so. All the performers were excellent. The songs are upbeat and fun. "Puttin on the Ritz" is a show stealer. Laughed until I cried. It took me over sixty years to get to this building, but I am anxious to see what else is in store in this musical theater.

I have seen 5 shows here and am consistently amazed at the singing and acting talents of the cast. The setting is intimate and at the end of the show you get to greet the cast. For such huge stage productions (Le Miserables, Chicago), the set design doesn't feel like your in a small, community theater and you are blown away by the music. Highly recommend visiting!

It has been so enjoyable to see this theatre grow. The talent they recruit is phenominal. Now the facility is getting better all the time. It will be fun to see the new orchestra pit.
