Majestic Star I and II are still very dirty and smelly. Cigarette ashes are all over the machines and coffee, drink spills make the slot area sticky. All in all, it's a disgrace. The patrons are terrible when it comes to smoking. They don't care whether or not one is a smoker. They just huff and puff until it looks like smoke coming out of a chimney. The machines are relatively tight. It's ok for a quick in and out visit. The food at the buffet is mediocre at best.On a positive note, the waitress staff is very good and friendly.

I visit Indiana and Illinois casinos regularly. I have the most fun at Majestic. I think Rivers and Horseshoe are more modern in terms of slot machines and layout. Hollywood and Rivers get points for no smoking. Ameristar's hotel is good. But Majestic provides better slot machine action. I am the first to admit that Majestic's buffet does not offer as many choices as the other mentioned casinos, but it is still decent. Of the Indiana casinos Majestic offers the best non-smoking section. You have to bet more money at Rivers because they have minimum bets of 50 cent or more while you can bet 1 cent , 5 cent , 10 cent, 25 cent (you get the picture) at the other casinos. Plus Rivers is smaller. I was going to Horseshoe for years with family members (even before visiting the other casinos) but never won a jackpot. I slowed-down how often I visit. In contrast, I won 3 jackpots last year at Majestic -- two after having recently lost at Rivers ( At least I got my money back). Last year I also won the IPad I am typing this review on from Majestic. I can go on and on in terms of comparisons. Me and my twin brother talk about this all the time. However, I will conclude with this. One can always go back and forth about the buffet, rugs, bathroom, employees, rewards program, etc. Casinos are places where people gamble to win money. We all know the house has the edge. But in choosing which casino I enjoy the most; it has to be the one I have won at the most. That's Majestic.

We went out for my husbands birthday and did an overnight, the room was clean and well kept, the staff was more than welcoming, met our expectations

This place is gross. Found a pretty good parking spot, but then we had to walk forever down a dirty hallway just to find the boats. Walking onto the boats, we were greeted with overwhelming smoke (coming from two smokers) on top of some sort of air freshener that almost made me sick. They make you think it's a nice casino with decent slots by placing all the newer models with LEDs and whatnot in the front, when really after that it's just a bunch of old machines on their last leg. We didn't see anyone winning, and everyone looked depressed. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes.Whether you're traveling through or a local, don't go here. If you want to experience a real casino, go to Horseshoe or Blue Chip. It's well worth it.

Went to Majestic Star Hotel and Casino for a one night stay on a bus trip August 26th-27th.We arrived and were greeted with a very warm welcome from Sanafrad and Martha at the hotel. When we went to our rooms we were pleasantly surprised that the rooms were nice and accommodating. The rooms are not 5-star rating, but they were clean and comfortable. The buffet dinner was part of our bus package and was a good buffet, nothing special but a decent meal.Unfortunately the casino was a nightmare. We were greeted by smoke-filled air and dirty-filthy slot machines.Cigarette ashes everywhere. The floor was actually sticky from spilled drinks and who knows whatever else was on the carpeting. The music was blaring SO loud that it hurt your ears. After everyone on our bus played their free slot play, they hurried back to their room and locked the doors for the night.I felt sorry for Martha when I told her that the Casino was DISGUSTING!!! She explained that the casino is old and could use some updating.I will say that EVERYONE we dealt with were MORE than helpful and friendly, but unfortunately the casino is a definite turn-off.We do a lot of trips throughout Michigan,Ohio,Indiana and neighboring states and I don't think we will be coming back to Majestic Star.I feel sorry for the employees there because it is not their fault, but the casino is TERRIBLE!!!

What a dump! Dark, dreary and dirty all in one! Staff is more interested in standing around talking to each other than the guests! Stay away!

When I initially started going to riverboats instead of Vegas to gamble back in the mid to late 90's, my 3 favorite riverboats were the Majestic Star, the Trump (now Majestic II) and the Empress (now Horseshoe). The Majestic was always bright and exciting. A Friday or Saturday night at the Majestic Star was well worth looking forward to, win or lose. Now it's dark, depressing, it stinks and the patrons look like the walking dead. You can feel the desperation in the air. The key to a good casino is to make the patrons feel like winners even when they lose. Majestic Star used to be that way. Not anymore.

Was a downer, two old boats. Looks cramped. Tables had average minimums for the area, no discounted minimums for the shabby area/ location.

If it was not for the good gaming I would not go at all. It is the shabbiest nastiest casino in the area. The buffet is also the worst. On the other hand the gaming is pretty decent, they a lot of cash give-a-ways. There is always something going on. So if you are looking for good gaming not ambience Majestic Star Casino is the place to go.

I went to the Majestic Star buffet for Seafood Night on a Friday night. The place was busy but not extremely crowded, but the servers didn't seem to care much about doing their jobs. The buffet itself is small and overpriced. There was always a long wait for crab and even then you only got two clusters. They would take a long time to refill items. Desserts were pretty sparse. Overall I wouldn't go back.

This place has gone down hill since when it first opened. Unless you really have a gambling habit, pass on this one.

If you like casinos, this venue has 2 casinos to choose from. Some people swear by Majestic Star while others prefer Majestic Star II. I am not a big gambler but I've had fun at both. If you try the restaurant or buffet you are looking out over Lake Michigan's southern tip and its industrial core. The food at the buffet is mostly good and the steakhouse is outstanding although priced for high rollers if you are not being comped. Your fun is how you make it and if you want to enjoy yourself, you will find a way.

I agree with other reviewers that the casino and hotel could use an update. I want to be clear that I am pretty picky with my food.We stopped by the buffet for breakfast, first there were many choices, the biscuits and gravy are pretty good, I like mine HOTTER but I assume its a safe temp.At the far end of the breakfast line is a guy who makes OMELETS any way and how you like them!!!! YUMMMIE.... If you are nearby stop in for breakfast!!!
