stratton brook state park

Great hiking in the woods.Nice trails with good scenery.Very convenient. Be sure to find it on your map or GPS.

As a resident of Simsberry, my wife and I love to walk the many paths of Stratton Brook State Park. During the summer you will see many families with small children playing on the sandy beach of the pond.You will also see many fishermen casting for trout.

This is a nice quiet park with a beach and a small lake to swim in. There is a picnic area and walking trails throughout the park. Also, a picturesque covered bridge.

We recently visited Stratton Brook State Park, and we were very happy we went. This is a small park, and so we had limited expectations. In addition, our daughter and neighbors who live nearby had little knowledge of the park. We brought our 5 year old grandson, and he was enthralled with the nature program, and we found it very interesting. The following day he wanted to return, and two wonderful staff members , Ellen and Wade, gave a great introduction to fishing course. My grandson caught two fish, and was ecstatic. There is a small pond for swimming, bike and walking paths, and plenty of picnic tables. Winter activities include cross country skiing, ice skating, etc.. Stratton Brook is convenient to many communities in the area west of Hartford, and provides a great destination for anyone who is looking to amuse their children, or get some solitude for a while, without an extended drive.
