Wonderful place to cycle away from the chaotic city life. You can filed miles long track that take you from farm fields to pleasant outskirt area. The part at Brandon was really the highlight of the trail!

The best part of this trail is located between La Porte City and Brandon. Get ready for a scenic, easy ride! The entire stretch from Waterloo to Cedar Rapids is a great experience. Portions are paved with asphalt and portions are crushed limestone.

There are many sections to this trail which now connects into the Waterloo area. From here to just across the Cedar river past LaPort City it is blacktop or paved. Beyond that it is a crushed limestone until outside the Cedar Rapids area. But even the areas where it isn't hard surfaced it is usually nicely packed and easy riding with GREAT views! Chances to see a lot of wildlife and ride and nice trail that is mostly flat. Since it was a train route years ago it only has slight inclines etc. There are areas that tend to wash out and may have less packed limestone but those spots are limited. Great way to be part of nature and explore IOWA!!

What can I say other than the fact the Cedar Valley hit the mark with the Cedar Valley Nature Trail! Miles and miles of pure enjoyment for runners, bikers, walkers, and all nature lovers. I can not imagine another city has a better trail any where. This trail is highly maintained and always a work in progress. Hard to improve on something so perfect but the Valley always pushes it forward with more trails and aspects to keep you safe.

The part of the trail that we travel the most is from E. Shaulis, across the river and into Evansdale and around the lake. The trail is very well maintained and very easy to ride. The bridges and resting spots are very nice. The trees and flowers add to the beauty of the ride. It is very nice that all these trails are now connected and you can go from Waterloo to Cedar Falls without any difficulty.

Paved and blacktop trails all around Waterloo and Cedar Falls to hike and bike on. Trails go through wooded areas of many different parks and along the Cedar River and into downtown Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

This summer I've been exploring the Cedar Valley Trail system to practice with my new helmet cam prior to a Colorado trip. I've been very impressed. About half the 52 mile Cedar Valley Nature Trail is blacktop and works well for road bikes, bladers, etc. The rest is crushed limestone / gravel. The trail was badly flood damaged in 2008, including the loss of two major bridges, but has since been extensively restored. At the south trail head it provides access to the Cedar River trail system in Cedar Rapids and to the north access to the extensive Waterloo / Cedar Falls trail system. You can see some of my short Cedar River trail videos here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaeG0koXJBkCmi2XDUH-N45gLq65xoGXW . Great eastern Iowa resource - highly recommended!

The nature trail is one of the best in the Midwest! Walkers and bicyclists can go for miles, or simply take an afternoon walk/ride. The trail is well maintained, and is almost fully recovered from devastating floods experienced in the area in 2008. For newcomers to the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, the trails are one of the quality-of-life benefits that make the Cedar Valley a great place to call home.

One of the best trail systems I've ever lived near. Some parts are too near the roads for my taste, but you can cover most of Cedar Falls by trail. There's plenty to keep you exploring for awhile, and they're well maintained. We're lucky.

Great trail system that goes on for miles. If your looking for a quiet ride, walk, run or blade. This i8s the place.

It is a good surface, the scenery is quite varied and interesting. From farm fields to bridges over rivers to quiet rural/suburbia.

Love the shade of the trees and the easy ride south of Gilbertville. In the fall it is just lovely and in the spring it is to. One of the nicest reasons to live in the Cedar Valley.

Great place for a low stress ride, walk or skate. The paved portion of the trail is well-maintained and is shady much of the way.

We are so lucky to have this in Waterloo. A great place to bike or walk.

The Cedar Valley nature trail winds through Cedar Falls and Waterloo. There are over 100 miles of trail that can take you all over the area from the University of Northern Iowa through downtown Cedar Falls, and to Downtown Waterloo. The trails also go to various parks including George Wyth State Park and Black Hawk county park. There are multiple access points to access the trails from. There are also plenty of stopping points at various parks that provide restrooms, scenic views, and relaxation areas. The trail is great for bike riding, walking, jogging, running, and rollerblading.
