One of the best mountains for beginners! My 6 year old had a great time learning to ski. The terrain park also seemed great if you like that sort of thing.

Our 4y/o didn't want to ski so we actually used the tubing two days in a row. $15/ person for an hour but we were able to stay longer since it wasn't busy. It has a magic carpet to take you up with your tube

This is a great beginners mountain. It is close to Ketchum and very easy to get to by car (5 minutes) or by bus. This means you can save money by staying in Ketchum. When we were there kids were free.Despite being a mountain for beginners everyone could have fun and it has a couple of great terrain parks.

Dollar Mountain is the much smaller sibling to Bald Mountain in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area. It is very low key and seems to have a lot of families and a variety of ski lessons available. There is minimal vertical and very few trees so it gets windy. This is a good place for a warm up before you go to Bald Mountain though. Nice Lodge and easy parking.

Due to an embarrassing snowboarding accident in highschool, I like to keep to the easy hills now :) There are plenty of varied beginner to intermediate runs on Dollar and nobody will judge you if you fall when trying to get off the chairlift! The staff here are super friendly and funny as well.Again, I am a beginner, but my boyfriend is quite amazing on a board (or skis for that matter) and when he was here giving me lessons he took a few runs down the trick area (sorry, I'm sure there is better terminology... jump park?) So I'd say this is a great place for beginners or those who wants to play in the terrain park / half pipe / whatever :)Finally - the lodge at teh base had semi-affordable and really yummy food. I tried a white sauce mushroom pizza slice (HUGE by the way!) and it was amazing and around $7 - honestly pretty affordable compared to the rest of town.Warm up the the neat outfoor fireplace that has a stellar view of Mt. Baldy!

Although my kids are great at snowboarding & skiing, I am a permanent beginner at best.We rented gear from the base of the mountain and off we went.It was pleasant & everyone was super friendly. From the rental's to the chair lift - the staff did everything in their power to make it enjoyable and fun. After a few runs - I grabbed a beer and sat outside to watch my family enjoy the mountain. The kids were excited to see a couple of celebrities there too!

My husband and I had not been skiing in 10 years and only once before so we are far from skilled. This is an excellent mountain to get your confidence level up and practice technique. We both felt like we actually got more skiing in going up and down the runs here then on our past ski trip and our day at Bald Mountain. It really offers a little for all skill levels and is cheaper to boot! My husband could break off and go down the more challenging runs which tied back into the lower ones so we could do our own thing at our comfort level and we would end up back together within a couple minutes. It was a fun time!

Great for those learning and young kids. Lessons are done well for kids and adult beginners. Small terrain park that keeps young ones entertained as they gain confidence. Rented at the shop there and it was very easy and the kids had good equipment.

Dollar mountain is an amazing mountain. High speed chairs, half pipe, terrain park & a skier cross course all great for kids & young adults. Tubing park is too easy and short. It is the perfect mountain for night skiing.

this is the "alternate" ski hill for beginners and snowboarders. Small hill with decent runs. Less expensive.

We liked skiing Dollar Mountain because it was almost all green slopes - great for regaining our "ski legs". Plenty of room to spread out and some nice, gentle slopes, but a few blue slopes and technical areas to move to.

Dollar Mountain, the 'second' mountain in Sun Valley, is right in town (so is the larger Bald Mountain but its 2 or 3 minutes further away!) and offers a world class terrain park and super pipe for boarders and the elite skier-cross racing course is also here. It also offers a smaller, less aggressive terrain option for skiers than Baldy and has a fantastic set up for little kids ski school.

When I take the kids there its like I can barely keep up. tons of on slope activities and it becomes difficult to get some of them to finally call it a day.

A good alternative for the rusty skiers like me. No stress! They have a great outdoor area for hanging out and watching the snow boarders along with traditional lockers, etc. for your stuff.

Trails were well-groomed and manageable for a beginner. Lovely area with an overlook of Bald Mountain and the valley
