This isn't a large park filled with campgrounds and paved walking trails. This is a historically significant place full of interesting history. This park contains a certified section of the Trail of Tears. This was a thriving trading port during the days of riverboats. You can walk along the river shore, fish, picnic, or take a short walk. The park rangers will gladly give you a tour with lots of facts if they are available. Lots of people come out here to make wedding pictures and such. It's also a popular take-out for kayak and canoe paddlers. Worth a day trip if you live nearby.

This little state park is probably one of Tennessee's smallest and least visited. It is way off the beaten path at a peaceful spot where the Red River and Sulfur Fork Creek merge. It is a pretty spot with picnic table, boat ramp and a few short hiking trails as well as an official stretch of the Trail of Tears. If you like a quiet spot in a nice surrounding, it is worth the drive to see. There is only one building; a restored building from the turn of the century that served as a store and a masonic lodge. It is a great spot for fishing and canoeing or just a quiet stroll in the forest. I enjoy these out of the way spots and recommend this one to anyone that likes to ramble back roads.

Port Royal used to be a lovely park with its covered bridge and well kept grounds. But many years ago the bridge washed away in a flood and the park has been slowly going downhill since.

If you are looking for a short stroll along the river bank, then this is a good place, but otherwise, there is really nothing there to see.

This is a beautiful park by the river - great place for a picnic as is it quiet and shady. We miss the beautiful covered bridge that the flood destroyed but the park area is still wonderful

It's absolutely beautiful out there. I live nearby and love taking "the long way" just to take in the scenery.

I visited here one afternoon when I first moved to the area. There was not single person in the place and it was kind of run down. They needed to fix it up. The old steel bridge is great for pictures,but that is about it. Not much to see or look at. I think it could be nice and useful with a upgrade to it. It looks depressing and run down.

Back to nature. Good news the city officials are planing to rebuild the covered bridge.

Nice picnic tables under canopy of trees beside river. Red River certainly deserves it's name; it was extremely muddy and signs forbid swimming. A local told us it was due to water mocassins and three people had died there from snake bites. Restrooms had long been neglected. They had supplies but were very dirty. Lots of spider webs and dead bugs everywhere. Enjoyed reading signs about history and the old bridge was nice!

Port Royal SP is located in Adams, TN. The day use area consists of a picnic area, fishing, walking bridges, and canoe access. When you see the forks in the river, you’ll understand why this area was ideal for a trading community. There are damaged remnants of a covered bridge, but needless to say access is prohibited. A recognized site on the Trail of Tears National Trail, it’s an ideal place for a picnic. While you are in general area, you should also stop by Dunbar Cave SP in nearby Clarksville, TN.
