Saw a show here in December and was impressed with how beautiful this theatre is inside. It is a much better experience to see a show in this more intimate setting than at a huge arena. There is a good view even from the seats in the upper level. I highly recommend!

Third year taking one of my children to see Shen Yun at the historic Tennessee Theater! Each time we go the show is a little different. The beautiful theater is so exciting, it makes me feel like I've stepped back in time. My children have wide eyes while looking at the beautiful chandeliers and ornate staircases. The volunteers who work there are always kind and helpful. I have never regretted an event at this beautiful theater and look forward to going back again and again!

I recently attended three events at the Tennessee Theater. I saw Jim Brickman, the pianist, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Ron White, the comedian. Both shows were excellent and there is no nicer setting than the Tennessee Theater. The theater is beautiful, seating is comfortable, concessions very good ...... NO complaints whatsoever! GREAT venue!

My friends and I went last night for a Ron White concert at this beautiful historic theater. The setting is gorgeous to view, but the staff certainly could do a better job of getting people into the theater without such crowding and pushing and shoving. The lobby area, although appearing quite large, is inadequate for the location of the bar. The restrooms are on the upper floor and in the basement. One small elevator is the only way for someone with a handicapping condition to get to the restrooms and the wait for the elevator is too long. Last night the theater heat was on and was easily in the upper 70s if not 80° in that theater. Several people were shedding jackets and sweaters just to be able to tolerate the nearly 2 hour show.

every seat is a good seat- parking is ample but you do have to know where to look. walking to movie theaters, food & dessert shops - but for dinner make reservations for some locations. my only complaint is they need more bathrooms the en tire theater only has 1 bathroom for each- and waiting to go in when theres an entire theater full of people waiting to get it, open more than ONE door- been there 3 times happened all 3 times

We attended a Black Lillies concert at the Tennessee Theatre on New Years Eve 2014. It was our first time here, or for that matter, in downtown Knoxville. We had a fantastic time. The theater is absolutely gorgeous inside. I have no idea how long it took to restore it, but the detail and the colors and patterns are so impressive. I sat and stared at the ceiling-- whoever painted it deserves to be recognized! The sound was great and we just felt like the whole venue lent itself to a multi-layered experience that was much more than simply a concert. We walked to the theatre from our hotel, so parking wasn't a problem. Since we live in NC, I doubt we will go here often, but if the right show comes along, we will happily go back.

Take the time to do the tour. You will not be disappointed! Best 2 hours I've spent in quite a while. Vey informative tour given by the theatres organ player.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to see several shows in this venue; ranging from the opera to a showing of a classic movie. The theater has been masterfully redone; it is truly a classic sight to behold. The acoustics are great and the seats are comfortable. I really don't believe that there are any bad seats in the house. The box office opens an hour before most shows, so I recommend getting tickets in advance.

Beautiful venue, yes. Gorgeously performed show, yes. But it was ruined by parents bringing their young children to the 7 p.m. performance. I'd debated with myself whether I could afford to attend, and after much deliberation, I finally took $50 from my tiny budget so that I could see something beautiful the night before Christmas Eve. (Note: There was also a 3 p.m. performance that was no doubt better suited for young children unaccustomed to being kept up at night.) Prior to the beginning of the show, I witnessed a mother drinking a glass of wine while explaining to her child who wanted the M&Ms sold at the concession stand that the candy was too expensive. Then the performance itself was marred by (1) a mother putting her child on her lap so that the child could see better (the child had her own seat as required), the result being that I could not see over them, (2) and then, having asked during intermission either for a refund or another seat, I was given another seat further back in the theater, only to have the second act marred by a small child literally standing in the aisle and mewing, "mama, I want some water." Twice the mother carried the child out to the lobby, and twice the mother brought the child back into the theater. My pointed glances at the usher/security guard resulted in no action on his part. And then a man came walking up the aisle blocking my view of the stage with a sleeping child in his arms. As a result of all of the commotion, I was unable to relax and enjoy the performance for which I paid good money. Shame on the Tennessee Theatre for not taking a stronger stand on insisting on better behavior on the part of the adults attending the show with young children (as other theaters do). Despite its greatness, the Moscow's Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker is not appropriate for children too young for kindergarten. I don't blame the children; I blame the parents for their poor judgment in allowing their children to ruin the performance for all of those around them.

The Tennessee Theatre is one of my favorite places to see a live show. My husband and I follow a few musicians who regularly play here. The sound quality is excellent and I would bet there isn't a bad seat in the house. If you get a chance to see live music at this venue, don't miss it!

Love this theatre! Beautiful architectural design and lighting. Intimate setting for concerts, movies, entertainment. Worth seeing the building alone. Located close to a lot of good restaurants and easy walk to Market Square. Last visit was for a Jim Brickman concert.

On the first Monday of each month, the Tennessee Theatre puts on a free concert for the city of Knoxville, yes free! We are always treated to the mighty musical organ that rises from the orchestra pit, and special guest artists. For Monday, December 1, 2014, the Central High School Choir presented many Christmas songs, dressed in beautiful costumes. It was an absolutely wonderful program.

My family has had season tickets to the Tennessee Theatre for over four years! Broadway at the Tennessee is always amazing, and the events, acts, and concerts that they have here are really great! However I do have to say the seating can suck! If you are not located in the middle section or the end of the rows on the far left and right sections, toward the middle, you will see nothing! Once they placed us on the end of the row all the way at the wall and we could only see from center stage over. Half the stage was out of view! It was terrible! Other than that it is a great space! The bathrooms are alway clean and the bar locations are nice and neat. Parking is somewhat easy to find, but I would still get there early to be on the safe side. Also there are tons of great places to eat before or after the show around the theatre!

One cannot go wrong with the Tennessee Theater. I recently saw Primus play at the Tennessee Theater and they blew the doors off the place!

I have seen quite a few shows in this theatre and I love it... any seat in the house is a good one as it is a smaller venue. It is on a safe street with close parking in the heart of Knoxville. It is especially beautiful at night!
