It was so peaceful and it had large rocks with the words to JD songs on them. It was close to town.Felt I had to do it to Thanks JD for all his music and what he taught me. Thanks JD

A nice little walk, probably better without snow, but we liked the granite rocks inscribed with JD's songs. Worth a visit.

My wife Lynda and i visited the John Denver Sanctuary a few years ago while in aspen on a ski trip. Although not all the song engravings were showing due to the snow, most were and since we were the only people there, it was a wonderful experience to walk, remember and even sing a few of our favorite John Denver tunes! Many thanks to the contributors that made this sanctuary happen, it brightened our day!!!David and Lynda MartensonAllen Park, Michigan

Beautiful gardens that echoed the feel of a John Denver song--definitely worth a few minutes when you're in Aspen!

The John Denver sanctuary was really nice in our opinion. A great way to spend an hour or two outdoors enjoying nature, getting a walk in. It is very well landscaped with gorgeous flowers that appear almost naturally placed, rambling streams and small waterfalls, and boulders with engraved poems, song lyrics and quotations. Very good setting to take family pictures or pictures of Aspen to share with your friends. Definitely worth seeing in the spring/summer/fall before it's covered up with snow.

It is a peaceful spot and had many flowers and large rocks. A special spot. It is on the way to the Rio Grande Trail. We enjoyed walking along this trail. It is a pleasant walk and worth while. Not too crowded and people were friendly.

What a gem and treasure. As most of us know, Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., loved the state of Colorado so much that following the success of "Rocky Mountain High", Denver purchased a residence in Aspen, Colorado and owned one home in Aspen continuously until his death. Peace, tranquility and solitude can all be found at this memorial dedicated to John. A great place for a sack lunch, picnic or just to take in the mountain beauty of this oasis.

This area is easy to access and right in town. A tranquil spot to sit and read or to explore the river and surrounding nature with friends, family or children. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and relax in the wonderfully crafted area that is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

Very emotive place to visit. The words of John Denver's songs are engraved on rocks scattered around this beautiful parkland...a must visit.

Whether a person is a John Denver fan or not this is a beautiful spot to visit. The gardens are amazing, with lots of color and variety. Tastefully landscaped with rocks, trees, water, and plants. A beautiful spot for a picnic lunch and lots of photos.

The John Denver Sanctuary is located right next to downtown Aspen and on the river that flows through the community. My wife and I enjoyed meandering our way through the gardens, over the rocks in the pond, and down the various pathways. We especially enjoyed the John Denver songs that were etched into the stones scattered throughout the garden. Take a moment to enjoy this wonderful spot!

This was the last and maybe the best thing we did in and around Aspen. It is an exquisite tribute to John Denver. Many of the words of his songs are written into the large stones strategically placed in the Sanctuary. The flowers, the green grass, the rocks and the songs made a lasting impression. I was very touched and left with much to think about as well as humming as I went. Take the path to and from the Sanctuary. It is well worth the walk. Finally, there are three large picnic tables on the grounds of the John Denver Sanctuary that I presume are for the public to use. Just be sure to take your trash with you. The place is immaculate and let's keep it that way.

Very tranquil spot. Lovely wildflowers, view of mountains all around. Pond, boulders all over the sanctuary, some with sayings from famous people about conservation and preserving our environment. One area dedicated to JD with words to his songs carved on different boulders scattered throughout the park. Very serene, lovely spot to sit and reflect.
