Cool way to see and be part of a Opera House as you could imagine fro Westerns but with all new technology to make it updated.

Perfect for a show in Aspen, close to all restaurants after .. only drawback ladies room not big enough, intermission bar overloaded for staff

My first time into this beautiful theater. I attended a screening of "It Might Get Loud". I loved the building and the space as soon as I walked in. There was a simple food and drinks bar with basic fare and somewhat overpriced wine by the glass. But hey-- at least there was wine, and decent ones. There was a public coat rack that had no attendant, no doors and no stubs-- it worked purely on an honesty system, which I daresay, can only work in Colorado. Seeing this system work, and walking around this theater was like stepping back in time. The inside of the theater was magestically preserved, nothing contemporary about it. A classic concert hall with all the well-designed and considered basics. The treat to the senses had already begun. When the movie got underway and the first scores of music were playing, I began to sense disappointment with the lack of kick the sound system was giving me. I was there to watch a movie on The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack White, jamming together, and the volume of the Wheeler Opera House couldn't go any higher. I longed for the oomph and delivery from a modern-day cinema and the Wheeler couldn't give it to me. But it gave me a lot more in other aspects. I don't regret my evening there whatsoever, but will return to watch someone playing live, not reproduced.

The seating is comfortable, the venue is intimate, and the sound is outstanding in this remodeled, classic opera hall.

The Wheeler Opera House is a unique, historical landmark in downtown Aspen. It's been restored to its original glory from the mining days and boasts state-of-the-art technical equipment. The Wheeler attracts internationally recognized artists and performers, and yet is also utilized by various local performing groups. It's well worth a visit.

We were pleased with the Wheeler. Comfortable, easy access, great concessions and fabulous entertainment. What more could you want. So when in Aspen, be sure to check out what this venue has to offer. You'll be pleased to see this refurbished Victorian theater in all it's glory.

Recently renovated and wonderfully kept in style with its roots. This is the place to go for getting your cultural fix while in town. A diverse range of performers to be seen and a year-round program to suit many tastes.

Good concerts, films, opera, etc. Right in the center of town and a landmark that is worth visiting if you have a chance. The Aspen music festival may get the glory in the middle of August, but there are always great performances to be found at the Wheeler, and it is a 5 minute walk from the St. Regis.

Not an opera fan? You would surprise yourself if you came on Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm. I'm not a fan, but I learn so much from the 15-minute segments that talented young students from around the world come to prep and refine with the support of colleagues and a master teacher. At the end of each 15-minute segment, the master teacher arrives on stage to reset, review and add commentary for the young performers (college-age). He's humorous, insightful and always helpful. The audience learns as much as the students. Two hours is a long time, but it moves quickly. The theater, itself, is a well-kept theater from ages past. Come and enjoy. Leave the young children at home or in the park with a sitter. Turn off your cellphone and enter the age of the masters in classic theater. You won't be disappointed. Call ahead for tickets!

We come here again and again. I suppose the most famous artist we saw was the Temptations but most any talent there is quite entertaining. This past winter we saw Keb Mo. Don't miss this guy. He was an acoustic blues guitarist and singer with 3 Emmys to his credit. The balcony was redone last year so the seating up there is much better. Amazingly you can buy a drink at the bar and enjoy it in the theater while waiting for the show. I have only been here in Winter but usually it is really warm in there so dress in layers so you can take off a few. And if you can, have an Aspen Crud at the J Bar before you leave town but don't get in your car after the drink; leave the next day.

The Wheeler Opera House was build in 1889 so there's plenty of history. Its probably the best sounding theater in the West. Loved it.

We've attended numerous concerts and events at the WOH. All have been great experiences. This happened to be the Judy Collins concert. Had to laugh when we entered as the usher looked at a young couple and commented "wow, someone under 40". The venue has an updated sound system and other improvements. If you are in Aspen it pays to experience this classic intimate (as in not one bad seat) setting. Can't wait to go again.

The recently renovated opera house was the site of a film screening recently. It has experienced a complete redo, but retains all of its old charm. The balcony has been reworked for more legroom. There is truly not a bad seat in the house.
