Don't miss this one. The church is beautiful and steeped in history. The Civil War was stopped for a short time in order to bury a union soldier in the cemetery in a Masonic service. In fact, the burial is reenacted each year on the anniversary date of the burial. http://www.daythewarstopped.net/story.htmlBeautiful stained glass windows and old pipe organ. Take the self-guided tour of the church and grounds. Amazing.

The self-guided tour of the chapel and cemetery was a beautiful, peaceful experience. The grounds are lovely, with many old moss-covered live oak trees and beautiful camelias blooming. There is so much history (for example a Union Officer's burial in the cemetary during the Civil War). The pipe organ in the chapel is the only one of its type still in existence in the U.S. The chapel boasts beautiful stained glass windows and a lovely bronzed chandelier (chandelier was donated in the 1870's by the owners of Rosedown Plantation). The tour is free and well worth your time.

Probably one of the best things worth visiting in St. Francisville. The trees with the Spanish moss gives it extra character!

Such a "graceful" looking old church. Inside was beautifully preserved, and loved the stained glass windows. The church is nearly surrounded by a graveyard, with headstones that are well over 100 years old, but still legible. A printed sheet for a self-guided tour is just inside the front door, plus a spot to contribute for this lovely place's upkeep.

There is nothing like a cemetery in the south with that moss that hangs from the trees to make things seem even creepier. This cemetery is full of graves from the mid 1800's, many of them being influential to St. Francisville and surrounding area. The historical society is down the street and could give you more information. Grace church is pretty and serene. Worth a look while visiting.

wonderful church, very old graveyard some of the graves dating back to the 17 hundreds. Beautiful oak trees, well kept cemetery.

We enjoyed walking around the cemetery. Many old gravestones. The church is interesting. Pick up a brochure in the entry way that explains the history of the church.

Take time to visit both the graveyard and the Church. Look for the four red glass panels near the altar (local legend is that the glass was purchased with a "gift" from a repentant Union Naval gunner"). The beautiful oaks were planted in 1855 at the same time the fence enclosing the cemetery was started. Interesting history of how the Civil War was stopped for 3 days in St. Francisville while Masonic brothers of both the Union and the Confederacy granted the wish of a dying Union Naval officer to have a full Masonic burial. Be sure to look for a lovely handout when leaving the church.

A great old cemetery with many Barrow descendants, but not Clyde Barrow - a relative, but not a favored one.

This church is nestled among huge old trees where the sunlight drifts through causing shadow and light. Next to the church is a very old cemetery with the town's history on each headstone. So many people, especially children, lost to yellow fever. Each headstone tells a story. This is a must see.

We walked from our B&B around the corner to go wander the graveyard. It is beautiful with all the gravestones from the last 1800's and early 1900's. The oaks everywhere with Spanish moss give it an otherworldly feel. There is a little fenced off section with headstones that seem to have been separated from the areas they were marking. Some newer headstones are in the far part of the graveyard.

We visited the church and were welcomed by local parish members. The cemetery is wonderful to stroll through and it is a history lesson in itself. Wonderful place to spend some time.

God and Father Sennette? are obviously very close! What a beautiful person at such a lovely place! Well worth the side venture to downtown St. Francisville!

This church is beautiful. I thought about changing religions just to visit this church every week. The burial grounds are kept up and the oaks around it are gorgeous. Inside the church is just marvelous.
