A Waterfall named after its discoverer, Thomson Falls is a pleasant site with a narrow waterfall The location is known for the lizards which abound that area and tourists are given a chance to photograph themselves with the lizard on their arm or on the shoulder

We stopped off here for a picnic lunch on our way to the Ark. You have to pay 150/- to do so within the hotel grounds and you have to pay to visit the falls. We were supposed to be doing some guided birding nearby but there was no guide available so we had to use someone who knew less than we did!! We also had to be accompanied by an armed ranger because there have been so many muggings recently. No sign of anyone with chameleons and got sneaky photos for free of the locals in costume!

So busy trying to avoid the people putting chameleons on you for 400 shillings you can't appreciate the wterfall

Food & drink was welcome, the falls quite nice but beware of the locals and their scams when you walk to the falls, luckily our guide put us right from the start.

A great view of falling near ice water in Nyahururu Kenya. It is a place you would love to visit for a weekend from Nairobi City. There is a small lodge nearby but it is best known for packed/picnic lunches and later go back to your hotel in Nairobi or the lodges nearby. Lovely Scenery!

While travelling from Nakuru in the direction of Nyahururu and Nyeri we did see some sign directing to the Thomson's Falls. This trip wasn't planned carefully (to be honest) so we were not aware of the fact that we should pass this Falls. However it was a nice stop for an hour or two and it was all worth it. Nice view on the Fall from different directions. A few little warnings; first of all, the local people told us, that this is a location very popular (wrong word) for people that intend to suïcide. One thing for sure; if you just slip into the water from the top, sure you will die. So even when you just want to look at the beauty of the fall and the nature around, you must be very, very careful. Another warning is also mentioned in another review. If you don't want it; just ignore local people around the fall that do try to sell you something or want to make photo's of you and then want you to pay for this. But all in one: a great visit.

When we went to Aberdare we hoped beautiful experience that we've had in Lake Nakuru. We rented accommodation Fishing lodge. After 2 ours driving on in the mud we arrived at destination. Then we were informed that they have either a generator for electricity. When we asked the housekeeper to give us light a fire in the fireplace he asked us if we bring firewood with you ????Then our driver was on rain collecting wood around. Put on everything we had on ourselves in order not to freeze overnight. The next day we tried to go to a lunch at one of two hotels in the park, at the Treetops they don't wont to open the gate for us ( you need to call ahead that you plan to visit them ). At the Ark hotel we managed to convince them to let us go in, but we didn't got lunch. WE didn't got also coffee as they told us that coffee time is at 5PM...nature is inconceivable for Kenya, at least that how it usually watch on TV and imagine it seems, the elephants climb the mountains at 3000m above sea level ... and precisely and only because of the nature worth to go there, you just have to be ready for everything your waiting.

Worth seeing, but be careful of the people trying to get you to buy their things. Don't be tricked into suddenly holding a chameleon or take photos of the people dressed up as they want paying. having said that a polite no thank you is all that was needed.

Its like a normal water falls - as the view was good but not excite or not a long water falls similar to another falls

Nothing to go out of your way for. It's a waterfall that wasn't overflowing with much energy. It's on the way from Treetops to Nakuru so did not take too much for us to go to but one can skip if in a hurry

The falls looked amazing when we saw them, there was a rainbow over the falls and everything. There were a lot of hecklers though, but the chameleons were quite cool. Good stop over for sure, but not a place you went spend hours.

The waterfall is beautiful (as is the drive across the Aberdares provided you get the decent road!). Sadly though the site has been ruined by some very tacky shops and overly assertive vendors of fairly bad curios. Not sure what the access fee goes towards... it doesn't seem to go towards maintaining the area. Ok for a break to stretch legs - not a lot more not sure you could spend an hour here. Drove straight past on the way home.

it was on the way so we saw it....otherwise nothing that great...was a bit smelly...good for s short break..but way to many people selling way to many things...you can give it a miss and you wont really mind it.

Visited the place enroute our journey to Masai Mara. A good stop over to stretch your legs, during the road journey. We got a bit fed up with the Curio shop vendors who want you to buy stuff from their shops.
