Hiking friendly dry cave less than a quarter mile trail for a family as our six year old was able to have great time "exploring" the cave for the first time. It's not the best cave which I have visited. Well visited cave as many of the natural tips of the stalactites and stalagmites appeared to be broken off and removed out of the cave. The ones coming off the ceiling were broken off too.Nice young high school guide did an outstanding job of guiding us. The souvenirs were not as expensive as other caverns we've visited.Cave is not far from the parking lot but do not have the handicap tour capability.Veterans discount is available.

We found this on our way back from Tombstone, and were curious what it could be. We were glad to have stopped as this was the nicest surprise discovery of our trip. The park itself is quite nice, and the center has good information about the local fauna and flora - and the views are spectacular. We absolutely recommend taking the cave tour. It's about 45 minutes and well worth your time. Our guide Clint was extremely knowledgeable about the geological formations we saw, was full of anecdotes about the history of the caves, and answered all our questions during the tour. This is not for you if you are claustrophobic, but the passageways are lit enough to see the beauty around.

We did the regular cave tour and we both found it enjoyable. You're able to walk around and see different types of cave formations, learn a little bit about caves, and some of the history of this particular cave. It's always 71 degrees in the cave, so it's pretty comfortable. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. They also offer different types of cave tours, we will be back to try the wild cave tour.

The cave portion of this park is ok but not overly impressive compared to other cave systems we have visited. Of course it is a dry cave which makes it a bit less beautiful. The point that you have to pay $5 a car to enter the park and then another fee to go in the cave makes little sense. The park itself has nothing to offer. The guide we had in the cave made the visit as she was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. If you really like caves then go....otherwise skip this. Half the cost of the other Tucson Cave is a big plus.

We have gone to other caves before and this one was just as interesting. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour lasts 45-60 min. and they is quite a bit of walking. It is narrow in places and very low in some places. It is always 71 degrees so short sleeves were just right for me. You will NOT see any bats. There is a fee to enter the park and a fee for the tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed, the excursion to Colossal Cave. One buys tickets, for the tour, at the gift shop. We found a variety of keepsakes, at reasonable prices. The Park's Staff were kind and informative. Our tour guide was well-versed in the Cave's history. We traveled by foot, along a given path, exploring the Cave. I felt refreshed afterwards. It makes me want to, experience more local attractions.

We could not have asked for a better tour guide. He was so genuine and interested in answering questions. We were there on December 24th, which meant there were no crowds. Standing outside before the tour, we got to see the majestic view of the expansive Saguaro Cactus forest from the best vantage point. That afternoon we went horseback riding at the ranch out there. The guide took great care in picking out the right horse for each person. He took us on a very interesting route, with all sorts of terrain. It was totally worth the money. All in our party are not experienced riders, so it seemed like it was going to be too challenging, but the guide was good at coaching each person about how to handle their horse. We did not have any young children, so I am not sure if this is suitable riding for them. You would probably want to ask about that when you call in for a reservation. The bonus for us was that our ride was almost at an end end when the sun was setting. Tucson sunsets are spectacular!

Very interesting cave experience. 300+ steps with handrails and an easy walk overall. Some interesting formations but there has been a lot of damage to the natural features by years of tourism much of which occurred before the cave should be protected. It is a dry cave system (inactive) and is no longer growing. Buildings and paths in the cave made by civilian conservation corps (CCC) in the 30's. Worth the visit.

Because it's a great place for my family, we have been to the cave a few times. The guides is very knowledgeable and informative. We have taken the normal & advanced trip through the cave. The cave and the view going to the cave are outstanding. There is a fee at the gate and cave trips.

This is a dry cave so it is not as compelling as others. The history provided by the tour guides is pretty interesting. For caverns, try Kartchner Caverns just down the road.

Think of this as the beginners cave, good as a first experience for kids or an adult who cannot walk Kartchner, then get yourself to Kartchner Caverns!

A wonderful tour inside the mountain that has many of the cave features you'd expect. Stalagmites, stalactites, coulumns, and a well done path through the caves.

The very professional guide, a former Rodeo cowboy had the utmost respect for the guests, the environment and the corraled horses and mule, the peacekeeper in the hottest of summer suns. Cowboy jokes, Cowboy tales, and cowboy wisdom shared was a gift from the former Rodeo junkie. He's the real McCoy.

We were looking for the Kartchner Caverns State Park and found the Colossal Cave Mountain Park and decided to explore. We found these caves to be an amazing natural wonder. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave and the rock formations. The tour takes about 30 minutes depending on the questions of the participants. The cave tour is an easy walk with sneakers or walking shoes.
