versailles state park

We stayed in Loop A, site #84. The site was pretty level, and very shaded. Getting our 32' Travel trailer past the trees next to the road was a little tight, and the turn around at the end of the loop was super tight for our RV, but we did make it. Some of the sites in the A loop are very unlevel, so make sure to read the details on the pad before booking a site. We could take some blame for that, because we didn't do much research on the sites. Loops B and C are better for the larger campers, and the sites are more level. The Lake is beautiful, and would be great for Canoes, and kayaks. The swimming pool cost is $3 a person, but well worth it. They also serve ice cream, nachos, burgers and hot dogs. We will be back for another trip.

The park itself is very well kept. Limited play ground areas and sightseeing. The facilities were ok. Showers needed updated, and repainting. (The men's shower house had no privacy or shower curtains) Not much to do at park besides swimming ($3.00/person, hours noon-6pm). This was our first trip to park. Don't think we will be returning...

If you have children this is apparently the place to go. There were hundreds of kids on bikes and scooters riding around enjoying themselves. We decided to participate in the 9 pm nature hike which was a little out of my comfort zone, but a great memory to share with my son when he gets older. Overall a nice park to camp at.

Our family of 90+ have been coming here for our annual family reunion on and off for 50 yrs. The cabin camoing has declined dramatically. The showers are GROSS. Mildew on the curtains. The showers youc must keep pushing the button or water will turn off. Some mattresses are torn. The terrain is unsafe and not well lit. People fall down. There's some steep walkways with roots people can trip on. .it is Not wheel chair accessible. In the kitchen it's comical. Hot water is cold. Cold water is HOT. Some appliances aren't working. The mess hall is large enough to accommodate all of us so that is plus. One shower building. ..totally GROSS. A bathroom in the kitchen and rec room. 10+cabins. What's a joke is they expect you to clean up before you leave before a deposit can be returned. Yet I don't feel we are given the same courtesy.

I was their for an Adventure Race, 2hrs paddling their beautiful waterway, 2hrs on their mountain bike trails. MT bike trails are well marked, and cared for. Didn't bring the kids this trip but I see they have a nice playground area/equipment. They have 'rustic' group camp cabins that are just that, rustic. But hey, your not going to honeymoon in them. I will be back with the full family one say soon and will happily stay 3 or 4 days there. I would have rated higher but the bathroom in the group camp area was only one notch better than an abandoned gas station's. All other facilities were nice to very nice.7$ to enter the park for out of state guests.

this was our fourth state park we visited over the course of five days in southern Indiana. My first disappointment was no one working the gate, could not find a trail map for hiking anywhere, nature center was closed. my second compliant, trails are not marked well at all some markers are missing, we tried to hike trail one from shelter area, ended up coming to about three different splits in the trail not being marked and ended up at the bottom of trail two near the bridge by the water. after already hiking trail three to trail two and again losing track of trail signs by the campground and ending up off course, finally asked some campers for help getting back on trail. gave up on trail one, as one can only handle so much hiking in one day with taking endless trails not marked. The scenery here is beautiful, the lake was pretty with fall colors. Been to several state parks and this one seemed to have a lot to offer just poorly marked hiking trails.

This park has a lake for fishing and boating (paddle boats for rent), a swimming pool, nature center, and great camping! My family has been going for years and we also love the Blue Grass Festival.

This is the 2nd largest State Park in Indiana. There is a fee to get in the park. There are 3 hiking trails & an extensive mountain bike trail system. In fact, while we were there, there was a big bike rally going on. The trails are nice & well blazed. There is a covered bridge just outside the park.There are picnic areas & a big lake/reservoir for fishing & boating. There's also a nature center next to the campstore, but it's unimpressive. There is a fee to use the pool. There are also horse trails for those who bring their own horses. We camped at the campground 3 nights. There are 3 loops. We stayed in loop c. It's the smallest loop, but I think it's the nicest. The bathrooms were clean & the showers were fair. There was soap that was provided in the bathroom that was replaced as needed. This is unusual in an Indiana State Park. Usually, you have to bring your own. I had a good feeling while staying in this state park. There was plenty to see & do, though we just relaxed most of the time.

This was stop number 5 on a 16-night tour of six Indiana State Parks for us. This is on the short list for parks that we want to return to. We visited mid-week, so the comments about drunks are something that I can’t attest to, but we enjoyed our camping experience. We found the campground to be clean and well kept. The shower houses were clean and it was obvious that the person who cleaned them took pride in that fact. There are two sections of campground. We stayed in the newer section, which appears to have sites that are more level, but some are less shaded. Mid-week the campground was probably at 25% occupancy or less, so the kids were able to ride their bikes around the circle without much worry. The pool was very nice and this is one of the few in Indiana’s State Parks that still has a high dive! There is a nice water slide and a low dive too. The facility was nice, including a nice shower/dressing area for pool patrons. The only down sides we had to the pool was that the water in the deep end was cloudy, so the diving boards were closed. The second down side was that there was a group of unruly kids that were ruling the pool and the lifeguards did little to nothing about it. I spoke with the assistant manager the next morning about the issue and I’m confident he took care of it, though we didn’t get to return to the pool the next day because of a downpour. The trail system is nice. We encountered two mountain bikers on the hiking trail while we were out hiking. When we came off the trail there was a conservation officer nearby checking the speed of vehicles going to the pool. When the bikers came off the trail the way they’d entered (past the “Foot Traffic Only” sign) the officer called them over and apparently warned them that they were in violation. That’s nice to see when there are miles of bike trails. I have to disagree completely about the person’s post that the park staff was rude. On the several interactions we had with park employees, they were all very pleasant and quite helpful. When I met with the assistant manager he was quick to acknowledge the problem and assured me that he’d take care of it. He answered other questions I had about the park and even came back to our campsite later in the day to clarify my question about canoeing on Laughery Creek. He said that if you canoe up the creek from the lake about a mile, there is a large eagle’s nest. Tip for campers checking in through the week: Camping check-in is at the main office, not the gatehouse. The gatehouse is past the office, so you’re in a position that you have to either back up a good bit or turn around past the gatehouse, which can be challenging if you’re pulling a trailer. There is a gate fee for park entrance - $5 for in-state vehicles, $7 for out of state.All in all this was a great park that we look forward to returning to. This is truly one of Indiana’s hidden gems.

Spent the day hiking the park - it was beautiful! Facilities were clean, small camp store for snacks, kayak & boat rental available. There are plenty if picnic areas as well. Definitely on the "visit again" list!

This park is very clean. Pool is nice. Not much in the fishing dept. I enjoy the camp grounds several times a year.

If you are in the Versailles area you need to check this park out. Camping, swimming, fishing and some of the most beautiful landscape you will find in the State. Versailles has great restaurants and an awesome park to go along with it.

This park has excellent facilities. It is close to stores & restaruants for convenient access. The park itself is expertly maintained & provides hours of enjoyment when camping, grilling/picnicing, or just going for a swim.

Indiana's nicest state park! Hiking trails, camping, awesome pool, fishing and some great picnic areas!

Lots of hiking trails, horseback riding trails, and bike trails. If you like to swim the pool is wonderful for small children and older siblings. Campsites have mature trees. Best to reserve sites ahead of time because they fill up fast every weekend from spring through autumn.
