Nice walk to admire the sea by the city of San Juan. It goes by the ancient walls of the city, so you can feel history by your side.

We went our last night in San Juan, which was a Friday and I expected it to be super busy but there really wasn't much going on... which was really nice! It was a beautiful night and a great walk before leaving.

It is a relatively small area, but full of history. This is the largest area of green space in the area. There are statues along the way too. It leads to the city gate on the far end of the walk. There is children's playground equipment in this area, I think the only place I saw in Old San Juan.

The Paseo de la Princesa is a nice park and walkway that leads towards the statue of La Princesa and Paseo del Marro. You cannot see the whole area from the entrance, so you must venture west. The walkway is covered with nice trees that provides good shade when the sun wants to give you a hard time. There is also a beautiful park on the right side with a lovely garden and statues projecting the image fathers, mothers and children with strong Puerto Rican heritage!. Further down, you will see the Puerto Rican Tourism Company Building that provides great literature and resources for travelling throughout all of Puerto Rico, which includes both New and Old San Juan. They even have a free picture gallery inside where pictures are permitted. Towards the end of the Paseo del al Princesa is the water fountain statue with great views overlooking the ocean west of Rio Bayamon part of the island of Puerto Rico. You can even continue further along the path which leads you up to Paseo del Morro. Very nice walk and it is quiet!

It is a nice walk around the front of the Fort, on one side the wall and the other side the ocean, on weekends they have artisan fair with many local vendors selling local craft.

If you're looking to combine sightseeing, picture taking and a bit of exercise, try walking the Paseo de la Princesa which ultimately turns into the Paseo del Morro. Essentially, this route takes you away from the cruise ships and street vendors, transports you through time, then leaves you in awe with a breathtaking finale at the base of Castillo San Felipe del Morro.NOTE: Something I wish I'd known before going on the walk -- when you reach the end of the Paseo del Morro, at the base of the castle, there's no way to get up to the castle itself. There's no exit. You have to turn around and walk back. The closest entrance into the city is through the San Juan gate about 1.5 miles back. Just to spell it out, that's 3 miles round trip from the San Juan gate. The San Juan gate is about a mile from the beginning of Paseo de la Princesa. Given the potential for heat, direct sunlight and lack of shade, this might not be a walk for everyone. It get pretty hot along the wall and there's very little shade, so make sure to bring sunscreen and water!

Looking for a quiet spot with lush vegetation? This is the place. Throw in statues and once again views of the water, and you have found a spot for a delightful getaway from the crowd. We were there one afternoon then returned another evening as the lamps were coming on. Loved it!

Lovely tree-lined street; nice little park; crumbled remains of city wall; stop at La Princesa, formerly the San Juan jail which was outside the city walls. There is an ever-changing art show to see -- & go through the courtyard, through a narrow walkway, to see old jail cells. [Free]

We were fortunate to discover Paseo de la Princesa late in the first afternoon of our visit to Old San Juan. By the time we arrived at the old San Juan Gate the lights had come on. Really gave us a good view of the size and strength of the wall that used to surround the entire city.

Very nice and has some food trucks by the entrance , Good air and walk all the way to the end for a great ocean and Catano views, Parking is available ,take water with you because you can keep walking for a while

Street vendors and live music. The band was great. Lots of couples dancing and a big group danced a merengue line dance! Free fun

nice shady walk to the fountains, Did not walk around town. Took a free trolley to see everything. Nice historical sighst but we saw them years ago already.

It's a pleasant place to walk around, there are beautiful trees providing a nice shade as you walk towards the sea. Sometimes in the evenings there is live music and old people dance, and they dance very well!But there are too many stands with fatty foods and sugary drinks everywhere, as well as touristy stuff of dubious taste...

Strolled through at night and it was a magical experience. You fill the history brush your cheeks as you walk pass La Puntilla & the beautiful fountain. Take the trail and end up at the Old San Juan Gate!
